Dovetail + Co acquired the Mainstay Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island, a 197 room full-service hotel with onsite restaurant and pool in January 2019 and oversaw a full redevelopment to transform the hotel into The Wayfinder, a vibrant hideaway that is grounded in Newport’s colorful history and celebrates the city’s emerging culinary and art scenes.
Located in North Newport, The Wayfinder Hotel is convenient to downtown Newport—renown for its Gilded Age mansions, America’s Cup sailing, sandy beaches, and rugged coastline—and Naval Station Newport. Dovetail is keen to contribute to the revitalization of North Newport, creating jobs and improving this prominent gateway to the City by the Sea and Aquidneck Island.

The Wayfinder is a new boutique hotel created by a group of local chefs, bartenders, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs who are proud to call Newport, RI home. A shared passion project, we’ve banded together to create a fresh take on the traditional Newport hotel experience.
The full-service restaurant, Nomi Park, is a laid back, all day eatery serving a mash-up of elevated classics and refined coastal cuisine.
