In 2019, Dovetail + Co acquired the Mainstay Hotel, a 197 room full-service hotel with onsite restaurant and pool and oversaw a full redevelopment to transform the hotel into Wayfinder Newport.

Wayfinder Newport is a coastal hideaway that reflects the spirit of this town, from maritime heritage to modern-day maker culture. Local collaborations are at the heart of everything we do—from the works by local artists that adorn our walls, to home-grown culinary talent, RI-made O&G Studio furniture, and bath amenities created by Newport’s own Shore Soap. We imagined a space that feels more like a stylish friend’s beach house—complete with their favorite finds and local flair.

Little Clam is our farm-to-table restaurant that celebrates Rhode Island’s farmers and fishermen, with fresh seafood, seasonal produce, and artisanal products sourced from nearby waters and farms. The Café pours brews plus grab-n-go snacks and provisions, while The Poolshack serves up frozen cocktails, cold drinks, and light bites poolside.
